Saudi Arabia travel tools
that don't assume you already live here.

Built for first-time visitors, Umrah travellers, and the curious. Every tool is interactive, every rule is footnoted, every result tells you what to do with it. No login. No tracking beyond what's required to serve this page.

Built on the rules that trip people up

Every tool bakes in the rules Saudis actually live by: the 5 prayer windows, Friday-Saturday weekend, abaya norms, mutaween expectations, single-gender spaces. You get the *real* operating environment, not a travel-brochure adjacent.

Calculators, not content farms

No "top 10 lists" scraped from press releases. Each page does something with your inputs — gives you a price, a window, a verdict, a route. The text around it explains how to *use* the answer.

Honest about limits

Saudi rules change — Vision 2030 is rewriting parts of daily life monthly. Every tool flags what it can't know (live traffic, current promotions, the exact mutaween posture this week). When in doubt, we say so.

Pilgrimage & Religious Travel

Umrah and Hajj logistics, with prayer times and crowd calendars baked in. None of these are generic "what is Umrah" pages — they answer "what should *I* actually do tomorrow morning?"

Culture, Etiquette & Dress

The unwritten rules Saudi hosts actually enforce. Most online guides copy the 2010 version; we track what has actually loosened (and what hasn't) under Vision 2030.

Transport & Getting Around

Saudi transport is unusually fragmented: Haramain high-speed rail for the holy cities, Riyadh Metro for the capital, a ride-hailing market with 4 apps, and rules around women driving that change city by city.

Money, Costs & Practical

Saudi Arabia is mostly cashless (Mada + Apple Pay everywhere), 15% VAT, no service charge, and the riyal is pegged to USD at 3.75 for 35 years running. Yet tourists still overpay — these tools show why.

Climate, Health & Timing

Saudi has 50°C summers, dust storms, a Friday-Saturday weekend, and Ramadan rules that change the rhythm of every shop, mall, and restaurant. These tools put the right dates on your trip.

Destinations & Regions

Saudi Arabia is 13 regions the size of Western Europe. Most tourists see 2. These tools help you pick which — AlUla, NEOM, Asir, the Red Sea, the Empty Quarter edges — and how to combine them.

Why this site exists

Generic Saudi travel guides still treat the country as it was in 2015 — pre-Vision 2030, pre-tourist visa, pre-Riyadh Metro, pre-women driving. Half their advice is no longer right; the other half was never operational (telling tourists to "ask your male guardian" without saying where he is or isn't required).

Saudi Compass does something different. Every tool on this site takes your inputs — prayer windows, dress code, budget, transport mode — and returns a verdict, a price, or a route. The text around each tool tells you how to *use* the answer, what to do next, and what we don't know.

It is not affiliated with the Saudi government, any Saudi operator, or any tourism board. We pay nothing for placements; we recommend nothing we haven't thought through. Updates happen when the rules change, not on a content calendar.

What we don't do: sell data, run affiliate redirects, push app installs, host sponsored posts, or display anything other than standard display ads (Google AdSense, when approved).

Saudi Compass does not collect personal data from visitors. The site has no user accounts, no login, no newsletter, no analytics beyond what Google AdSense itself runs. You can use every tool on the site without providing any personal information — the calculations happen entirely in your browser.

Google AdSense. When display advertising is active on this site, Google AdSense (a Google LLC product) may set cookies or use localStorage on your browser to serve ads and to measure ad performance. AdSense may also collect your browsing behaviour on this site and across other sites that participate in the Google ad network. Google uses the data it collects to deliver and tailor advertising. You can opt out of personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com. For more information about how Google uses data from partner sites, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Third-party cookies and advertising. Beyond AdSense, the site does not embed third-party advertising networks, affiliate redirects, or external trackers. The only external scripts loaded are: (1) Tailwind CSS CDN, which serves styles only; (2) Font Awesome CDN, which serves icon fonts only. Neither sets tracking cookies.

EEA / UK consent. If you are visiting from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the site will display a consent banner before any ad is loaded. The consent banner is provided by Google (Funding Choices / IAB TCF v2) and stores your choice in a local cookie. You can change your choice at any time by clearing site data in your browser.

Children. This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Data we never collect. Saudi Compass does not collect: names, email addresses, phone numbers, IP addresses (beyond what your browser automatically sends), passport data, or any input you type into the tools. All tool inputs are processed in JavaScript on your device and are never transmitted to any server.

Contact. Saudi Compass is published by an independent operator. We do not list a public contact email on this site; readers who need to reach us can do so through standard web channels. We respond to privacy and data requests within 30 days.

Information changes. Saudi Arabia is undergoing rapid change — Vision 2030 reforms, regulatory updates, and operational changes occur frequently. Pricing, schedules, visa rules, and cultural norms referenced here were accurate as of October 2026 but may have changed. Always verify critical information with the relevant Saudi authority or operator before relying on it. Saudi Compass takes no responsibility for losses incurred by relying on outdated information.

No warranty. While we make reasonable efforts to keep the information accurate, Saudi Compass provides no warranty as to the accuracy, completeness, or fitness-for-purpose of any content or tool on this site. Use at your own risk.

Third-party services. The site references third-party operators (SAPTCO, flynas, Careem, STC, etc.) for informational purposes. Saudi Compass is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by these operators. Their policies and prices may differ from what this site reports.

Religious etiquette. Pilgrim-related tools (Tawaf, Sa'i, Ihram, Mahram rules) describe the general rules as understood at the time of writing. Etiquette in the holy cities can be more conservative than the law requires. When in doubt, follow the behaviour of hostesses or local guides.
